The Jennifer Beach Foundation was formed in December 2001. Our initial intention was to share the words of a poem written by Jennifer Beach. The subject matter of the poem deals with the issue of child abuse. Please see the comments preceding the poem. It is our belief that the words of Jennifer’s poem can touch people in a way that may help them in their individual situation. In addition to distributing the poem we have found that there are many other ways that we can help. Below is a brief description of some of the areas of our involvement. Bruised Inside & Out - A Poem by Jennifer Beach
The words of Jennifer's poem
have been published in booklet form. The professional
design and layout and 5" by 8" size partner
with the power of the message of the poem to provide
an excellent tool for helping us to feel the pain
that child abuse creates. Our hope is that through
sales of the booklet, donations and grants received
that the Jennifer Beach Foundation can give copies
of the booklet to schools, youth groups, domestic
violence and child abuse shelters, and other charitable
organizations. The poem is also available in poster
format. The poster is 12" x 18". In addition
to distributing the poem as described above it is
our intention to make monetary donations to other
501(c)(3) organizations that work first hand with
abused victims from the proceeds of the sale of the
booklet and poster.
Awareness and Prevention Information
The Jennifer Beach Foundation
is committed to working with public and private organizations
in efforts to educate and inform those interested
regarding matters of how child abuse and neglect effects
our society.
Expressions of Experience
Our foundation was started
because of one person who felt a need to express her
experience in the form of a poem. For many of those
faced with abuse in their lives they may have not
had the opportunity or a comfortable forum to express
their feelings. It is our hope that if we provide
a place, a posting board, for those people to let
out some of their feelings through a poem, short story
or drawing that it may be a step towards a better
life. A portion of this web site will be dedicated
to posting those expressions
of experience so that the authors and artists
can share with any and all that want to view their
works. Please send us your contributions.
Skills Classes
We are aware that many factors
contribute to the tragedy of violence and abuse. We
believe that through education and counseling these
factors can be better managed and overcome. The Jennifer
Beach Foundation is presently conducting personal
finance classes for victims of domestic violence.
Helping to educate individuals on this subject builds
confidence and helps relieve stress in this area of
life. Other areas that we are working on to develop
programs include parenting skills training, teen violence
awareness and training and mandatory CPS reporting
requirements.
Cell Phone Programs
The Jennifer Beach Foundation
has partnered with The Wireless Foundation (a tax-exempt
501(c)(3) organization) to participate in their CALL
TO PROTECT: Wireless Phones for Domestic Safety Program.
Through this program donated cell phones are re-programmed
to dial 911, providing a lifeline to victims of abuse
when faced with a life-threatening crisis. This is
an on-going program for us. We would greatly appreciate
the donation of any cell phones that you no longer
use and may be collecting dust in a closet or drawer
somewhere. Tax receipts are available to donors. Please
contact us for more information or just send your
phone(s) to us.
We are continuing to look for ways to help. If you have any questions or suggestions please contact us. |
